The Royal Marines Charity

Bravo Two Two is headed by a former Royal Marines Commando and as a company we want to give back. As a result of all the great work they do for us, we donate £1 from each sale to the Royal Marines Charity. So far we have donated over £1800 from website orders and events.

Here below are some facts, figures and reasons to support this great charity.

WHY THE ROYAL MARINES?

Despite the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Royal Marines remain deployed on duty serving the nation around the globe 365 days a year – anti-piracy duties, protecting the nuclear deterrent, guarding embassies, on Special Forces ops. RM are only 4% of UK defence forces but provide form 49% of UK SF personnel. RMs won 211 national-level gallantry and meritorious service awards, including 25% of all gallantry awards made during the Afghan campaign.

WHAT IS THE RM CHARITY?

The Royal Marines Charity is the Royal Marines’ own Charity set up by the Corps in 2010, and so are uniquely placed to understand, respond and react, enabling Marines and their families to overcome their challenges including life changing injury, life limiting illness, mental disability, transition to civilian life and even poverty.

WHY SUPPORT THE RMS AND THEIR PARTNER CHARITY?

  • Disproportionate fatalities suffered by the RM in Afghanistan – 60 (13%) out of the 445 fatalities suffered by UK forces in Afghanistan since 2006, against 7,000 RM representing 4% of UK armed forces.
  • Disproportionate number of very seriously wounded: currently 155 disabled RM including 30 amputees (3 triple, 6 double, 21 single – 7 above knee) and two tetraplegics to care for through life.
  • 256 RM have lifechanging injuries, of whom 180 have exhibited signs of PTSD.
  • Disproportionate number of families coming to terms with loss and injury.
